Standing Point utilizes a Internet Relay Chat (IRC) infrastructure for general conversation between members, as well as organizing an interesting and constructive environment for communication between all members of the forum.
For those of you who are familiar with such a system, the chatroom is on irc.sorcery.net with the room being #SP.
Now depending on your system, there are a variety of clients you may use and acquire. This guide is written from the point of Windows users, so if you use another Operating System, you should seek help elsewhere. If you have any questions or comments about this guide, please PM or IM myself, rather than the other admins, and I will do my best to help you get online.
If you would like to connect through a stand-alone IRC client, there is mIRC, which can be acquired for free
here.
If you would like to connect on the go, or through an internet based client, Sorcery.net offers a CGI:IRC client
here.
For Firefox users, there is an add-on called Chatzilla, it comes highly recommended by the author for it's features and ease of use.
For mIRC users:First, after installing the program and running it, you will encounter a popup. Click the continue button to proceed, when available.

Secondly, enter the nickname, full name, email address, and so forth that you would like to have, and then proceed to the Servers option that is highlighted on the left in the diagram below.

We are nearly done! Now, click the connect button that is highlighted in blue below, and that will take you to the next screen to select your channel.

Enter the channel shown below, #SP...

And proceed on into the chatroom!
For Web Users:Enter your nickname and password on the URL provided above, and then continue on into the chatroom!
For ChatZilla Users:After starting the client from the Tools bar, enter the command '/attach irc.sorcery.net'. Next, think of the Nickname you want, and type in '/nick your nickname'. After that, simply type '/join #SP', and voila, you are in the chatroom!
Registering your NicknameA commonly asked question in chat is how to register your nickname so nobody else may log in as you. This is a relatively simple process, as Sorcery.net offers a Nickserv bot on the server, built just for accommodating nicknames. Firstly, you must come up with a password for your nickname, and try not to use the same password as your forum password, for security reasons!
Make sure you're currently displayed as the nickname you want registered.
Next, type '/nickserv register <the password you want> <the email you want to use for password recovery (or 'None')>' without the brackets.
Now every time you sign on with that nickname, be sure to type '/nickserv identify <your password>' to show Nickserv you are who you are supposed to be. Congratulations, you're registered!
